Ok Google, praat met Rituals Moments

Rituals is a popular Dutch cosmetics brand that helps consumers enjoy the little things in life and makes them feel good. To support this mission, three years ago they launched a meditation app which is designed to help people unwind and find a relaxed moment in their rushed lives.

With the recent launch of the Dutch Google Assistant, Rituals decided to engage their Dutch speaking customer base in conversations with their app via Google. Users can now talk to Rituals Moments in a very natural way. Depending on their mood the Assistant may suggest a 5 or 10 min meditation session to help them feel better again.

To test it, simply start the Google Assistant by saying "Ok Google, praat met Rituals Moments" and let the conversation happen. It might look as follows:

At Crystalloids Innovations we built this dialog using Actions on Google. This tool enables anyone to create a software that extends the functionalities of Google Assistant. To set it up there are several steps that need to be taken. We briefly described them here:

  1. Go to Actions on Google and Start building
  2. Select Add/Import project to create your agent.
    1. Give your project a name
    2. Choose the agent’s language and geographic area
  3. Define your invocation
    1. Give your agent a name that is unique. In the case of famous brands, you can expect to have to go through a verification process
    2. Select one out of 4 voices (male/female)
  4. Start creating Actions
    1. First, define your intents. These are the tasks that the agent will provide to the user (in case of retail it can be a query about support, a question about stock availability, etc.). The intents' discussions can be defined using Actions on Google's SDK or using Dialogflow (an online user-friendly graphical interface that uses natural language processing to enable conversations with your app).
    2. Theme customization lets you define the look and feel of your agent
  5. Online simulator helps you test your intents and find bugs
  6. When your agent is fully complete you can release it to alpha, beta and then release it to production.
