The Goal
Intergamma's goal was to transition to a cloud-based data solution, establishing a robust data lake for centralized storage and real-time access. By embracing cloud technology and machine learning, they aimed to overcome challenges with unstructured data, enabling data-driven insights and personalized customer experiences. This transformation would empower Intergamma to break down data silos, enhance decision-making, and drive efficiency, innovation, and customer satisfaction as a data-driven enterprise in the competitive retail landscape.
The Challenge
Intergamma's on-premise data storage posed challenges in accessing and utilizing their data effectively, prompting their pursuit to become a data-driven enterprise with real-time access and operational efficiency. To make sense of their unstructured data and cater to customer needs, Intergamma sought an artificial intelligence solution that would provide personalized suggestions and deeper insights.
Crystalloids initiated the transformation by migrating data from various platforms into a secure data lake on the Google Cloud Platform. With Google Cloud Storage and Google BigQuery, data became easily accessible through tools like InsightOS and Tableau, while Cloud Datalab and Google BigQuery supported advanced data analysis.
To cater to customer-centric goals, data about each customer was consolidated and linked to unique IDs, encompassing their purchase history, buying frequency, and newsletter interactions. Web behavior tracking allowed personalized recommendations across on-site and other channels like newsletters.
The introduction of machine learning, revolutionized the comprehension of unstructured data. Leveraging Google Analytics data, including on-site keyword search, product views, carting, checkout, and purchases, the neural network was trained to optimize the on-site search results, achieving on-site search specific boosting.
The Solution
- A data management platform in the cloud
- Machine learning to boost Intergamma's on-site search keywords
The Result
With the implementation of a data lake in Google Cloud Platform, Intergamma achieved significant improvements in data management efficiency and speed. The data lake provided a centralized repository that streamlined data storage and accessibility, enabling Intergamma to process and analyze information more effectively than their previous on-premise solution. This shift to a cloud-based data lake allowed relevant stakeholders to access real-time data, facilitating quicker and data-driven decision-making processes throughout the organization.
Moreover, Intergamma's strategic utilization of machine learning on top of the data lake proved to be a game-changer for their business. By harnessing the power of machine learning technology, they gained valuable insights into customer behavior and preferences. This enabled them to optimize their site search functionality, delivering more accurate and personalized search results to their customers. As a result, Intergamma experienced higher conversion rates among site search customers, driving an increase in overall revenue.
The combination of the Google Cloud Platform data lake and machine learning capabilities not only enhanced operational efficiency but also empowered Intergamma to offer an elevated and tailored shopping experience to their customers. With the ability to leverage data-driven insights, Intergamma solidified its position as a forward-thinking and customer-centric enterprise, poised to further thrive in the competitive retail landscape.
